WEG supplied medium voltage synchronous motors to CEDAE at the Lameirão Pumping Station in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. These motors will play a crucial role by pumping water to a significant part of the city, ensuring reliability and continuity for the state’s population. Considered the world’s largest underground treatment water pumping station, the Lameirão Pumping Station is essential for the water supply in the city, ensuring that millions of residents have continuous access to this vital resource. Its efficient operation is crucial for the quality of life in the region, making it a key component in the state’s sanitation infrastructure. The synchronous motors supplied by WEG, SDW models, include a 9,000 hp, 13,200 V, 18 poles, and 60 Hz and a 4,500 hp, 13,200 V, 12 poles, and 60 Hz motors. Designed to meet the specific needs of the station, these motors have the advantage of being interchangeable with existing equipment, simplifying installation and ensuring a smooth transition for the customer. This supply demonstrates WEG’s expertise in adapting its solutions to complex infrastructure demands, as in the case of Lameirão. CEDAE, a long-time WEG customer, signed another motor supply contract through a bidding process, aimed at the Guandu Treatment Plant, with deliveries scheduled from October 2024 to February 2025.
